So I will have something pretty cool to show at the end of it! lol But finding the time to look at them, tweek them and post is a whole other story! But here we are…. day 41! Not much has changed. Still going strong and wishing the winter away!

Apple Pie!
I love apple pie. I love apples period. There are so many things you can do with an apple. Growing up we had numerous apple trees and I loved it when they were ripe for the picking. I knew there was going to be fried apples for breakfast, caramel sauce for dipping, and homemade apple pie. It was also a reminder that the Apple Festival was around the corner and that was the big thing to do in Jackson County Ohio!! Oh how I miss those Apple Festival Days. We even got out of school for a day for the Apple Festival! Yep, it was that important to us southern Ohio folks.

So a few weeks ago I made a spontaneous trip to Eckerts and came home and made a pie. There was about 20 other things I could have been doing, but when the urge hits, GO FOR IT! It was little Andy’s first trip out on the tractor, he loved every minute of it. And he was a pro when it came to picking out the perfect apples. I just had to be careful letting him place them in the bag, he likes to throw. :) It was a great time and I am glad I remembered to bring my point and shoot that day, or else these moments wouldn’t have been captured.

When I got home Stephanie, my hubby and I peeled and chopped enough apples for a deep dish apple pie. It was delightful. The boys of course were tickled to see a train was on their pie.

I am the queen of using a recipe and making my own adjustments. So here is what I used:
Apple Filling:
12 large cooking apples, peeled, cored, and cut
¾ – 1 cup(s) sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1/3  cup all-purpose flour
small fresh lemon juice
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Placed apples, in bowl, squeezed lemon and tossed. Then added sugars, flour and cinnamon. I was throwing it together, next time I think I will mix all the dry ingredients together before putting it with the apples. I used a Pillsbury pie crust. I cooked it at 400 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I made a foil tent for the pie and the last 20 minutes of backing I took it off so the crust could get golden. It was YUMMY!! And you know, I forgot how easy it is to make an apple pie.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!!

I get all kinds of comments on my work. And many times I have clients say, “Your house must be full of beautiful pictures of your kids.” I always laugh when I hear this. As much as I try I cannot photograph my own children. The camera isn’t a novelty here, it’s a way of life for my family. Where mom is, there is a camera near by. I have scads of wonderful true to life photographs of my children, and I love all them. But do I have beautiful portraits that would amaze and wow my clients on my walls? No. I try every year and I still have my fingers crossed that this is the year they amaze me. I can envision the picture I would love to have in my head, as I do with each client’s session. But if I am able to round them up and actually execute it, well that we will have to wait and see. Wish me luck as I am hoping that this is the year, maybe even this week, that my dream portrait will be captured and proudly displayed on my walls.

Here is a typical response when I get the camera out.

I’ve spent the month of July just kicking back with the loves of my life. I blacked out the whole month of July just to be able to reconnect with my family before we rush back in to school days, crazy schedules, the fall wedding rush and then the holidays. Life slips by so fast and it’s been amazing to be able to slow things down a bit and take it all in; one day at a time. These little men I have been blessed with are such amazing fellas and it’s been great. We’ve been busy the past few weeks rediscovering where we live. Last week it was all about our favorite places to go in St Louis.

If you have not been to the City Garden, it is a must do. The boys had a blast and I enjoyed watching them and listening to the laugh as they ran through the spray plaza. I am looking forward to shooting a session here soon.

And it wouldn’t be a visit to St Louis with out a stop in Forest Park. And what trip is complete to Forest Park with out stopping at one of the best zoo’s in the United States? We have a membership and actually frequent the zoo. We come so much it still seems so silly that we all have to stop and get a map each time we come. For now on I will keep one in the bag and pull it out when we go. I’m sure we have one for each of them around here somewhere. They like to bring them home and play with them at home… you didn’t know I lived in a zoo, did you?

A favorite is always the hippo’s! And we have found that the evening is the best time to catch these guys in action.

Come back by soon to see the other wonderful places we have gone to. I need to get to bed. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain tomorrow as we have another fun filled day planned.

It’s Monday and my to do list is a mile long. I am determined to get myself caught up a bit before the next wedding… oh that’s this Saturday!! I am really looking forward to shooting Erin and Gregs wedding, what a great couple those two are! So I had a great weekend! I shot a wedding with my dear friend Donna, more on that later. Had a lemonade stand, hung out at an auction, got some GREAT deals, got more stuff for the new and improved office. And actually hung out with family and friends! First let me share this picture with you. It goes a long with this weekend.

The boys held their lemonade stand Saturday. It didn’t go over as well as they had hoped. I was too a bit bummed. But we are hoping to do it a few more times before the summer is over. So far they have raised $23 to go toward Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Our goal for the entire summer is $200. Only $177 to go!!

I also want to take a moment and officially introduce to you my partner in crime, my best friends, my assistant, my go to gal and my baby sister! She’s pretty fantastic! So here is Ms. Stephanie!

On the left she is working hard while shooting Seniors and on the right there we are after a wedding. I think we look pretty ok after shooting for 8 hours in the sun and heat. :o )

Ok I am off for now to deal with my Manic Monday!

Ok so I know I just changed my site a few short months ago, but honestly it was a hasty decision seeing I was on a time crunch to switch sites. It was large and beautiful and I got nothing but great compliments on it. But you know what, the more I looked at it, the more I kept thinking it just wasn’t me. I am not a big flashy kind of gal. I am simple. I like clean, fresh and getting right to the point. I love blogging so I thought this was the new way to go for me. So here it is welcome to the new blog site!!
