On Saturday we honored SrA Brad Smith. Sadly he was killed in a road side bomb the beginning of January in Afghanistan. He was from Troy, IL and his body was escorted by the patriot guard and local fire departments through our little town of Lebanon. It was an honor to stand with my community to show this family what his life meant to us. As a mother of 3 fine young boys the chances of me watching one of my boys join the military is pretty high, add in the long line of military in our families and the chances are even greater. I carried on a tradition as did my husband…. and I often wonder if it will continue with Jax, Log or Andy. Only time will tell. My prayers and thoughts go out to this family. He had a 3 month old baby girl. Words aren’t enough to describe how I felt when I saw the family drive by. My heart aches for them. And I pray that this will end and all the men and women will come home and there will be peace. I pray.
