When I met this super cool couple I knew I HAD to have their wedding!!! If they had said no I probably would have had a two year old melt down, grabbed his leg kicking and screaming. But luckily that didn’t have to happen!! Shew… I would imagine that would have been down right ugly. :) I got to meet up with them this weekend, they came all the way from some ;o) Army base in Missouri… they played it like it was no big deal, well anytime someone takes a day to drive all the way to see me, get back in the car and go all the way back… I am going to make a big deal out of it. Thanks guys!! You two ROCK my socks and I am soooo looking forward to your Rockabilly wedding coming up in November!! Enjoy your sneak peek!!

It was such an honor to be able to photograph fellow photographer Amy and her family. Amy has her business in O’Fallon as well and I won’t lie and say I wasn’t nervous. It’s always cool when photographers decide to step out from behind the camera. I need to do this myself more often. Photographing for photographers…. it’s a huge compliment and it’s also like you are getting ready for an assignment that is going to be critiqued and graded. lol But when I met up with her and her beautiful family all nerves were gone. Well after the first 15 minutes at least. lol This is such a great little family!! Miss H was adorable and funny. She was a blast, and so well spoken for 6. I had to stop a few times and remember she’s only 6. I wonder if it’s a 1st born thing. My oldest always talked, and still does, like a little adult. And that darling Master H…. oh my goodness. He’s a cutie, and one busy boy. They sure do have their hands full with this little guy. But when’s he’s being ornery, he sure is cute. Thanks guys, I had fun!! And I hope you all enjoyed a delicious meal at Mama Gusta’s. And next time, I think 1/2 scoop from Dr. Jazz would be good. :) Here is your sneak peek!!

09.26.09.

oo49 hours.

I saw God.

I got the call around 6:30 pm. I had just dropped off the Logster for a sleepover with Auntie and Mamaw. Jax was spending the night with a friend and Aar was looking forward to spending some time with Andy and the mommy. I knew it was the day. Traci had started labor early in the afternoon. I was packed and ready to go. So I called Aar told him she called and I was headed to the hospital. He said good luck, you’ll be fine. I was a bit nervous and had been asking him a million questions the past few days. You would think I’d never done this before. lol I’ve done it 3 times but from the other end. Being an onlooker is a whole new ballgame. Traci was amazing! Everyone joked that she was going to laugh the baby out. I cannot believe how upbeat she was. Honestly, words cannot express this moment. It was amazing and humbling. It is such a personal moment that I will forever be grateful to share with Traci and Paul. Paul was amazing!! What a great daddy this fella is. I love the conversation before baby came in to the world… it was a conversation that started about names, and then went to how she’s going to be a princess ( I said this lol)  and they both said oh NO NO NO. But once she came in to the world and I watched daddy set his eyes on his little girl I knew instantly that another Daddy’s Princess had been born. The look of pride and love on his face spoke volumes. And I don’t care what they say, I’ll just sneak her away and put her in frilly dresses and ribbons and bows. :o )

Thank you Traci and Paul for allowing me to be there with you. Capturing this moment for you was such an honor and one of the best jobs I have ever gotten to do. My love for you guys is endless and I am so very proud of you mama! You did good!!

I am working on something pretty cool for Traci girl, so just a few pictures will have to do for now. Stay tuned for what is in store!!

Please welcome Miss Sydney Kaye.

Here it is 12:47 a.m. Less than 6 hours from now my middle son will be waking, which in turn will wake up the youngest, and he will wake up the oldest. All the while I will be groaning and moaning and begging them all for 15 more minutes. It’s a rare day when the alarm clock actually wakes me. So why am I up so late? Burning that midnight oil. The house is calm, I can hear the crickets and the slow hum of the computer. I hear the clock ticking and all the magical sounds the night brings. Sounds that are drowned out during the day. It’s a house full of chaos, and I couldn’t imagine it any other day.

What do I do when it’s so quiet? Why not sleep? I try to get to sleep on most nights at a decent hour. But when my weddings are piled up, and sessions are coming in I have to burn it. Right now I am uploading a wedding to the website, so my couple will be able to view them tomorrow. I also finished up a load of laundry, I didn’t even put a dent in the pile we have accumulated. I’m making my weekly grocery list, it’s amazing the amount of food you go through with 3 growing young boys and a husband that never seems to get full. :) And while all this is going on I am also perusing this site for Halloween goodies. We LOVE Halloween and I am needing some great things to use for my booth I am having this year at the Lebanon Fall Festival that I can also use for decorating the home. I love Etsy!!
Here are two I am leaning towards. Click on the image to get some more views.

I have been on an Edgar Allan Poe kick these days. So when I saw these I thought to myself,  “I must have these!”  They sit in my little Etsy cart, I’m not sure if I will purchase them as I really don’t know what I would do with them. But still take a peek, are these not fantastic?

My tired eyes can’t take this anymore. So I leave you with a little part of the Raven by Edgar Allan Poe:

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted- nevermore!

Retail was one type of therapy I used to go after. But after having three kids, I quickly learned retail therapy was going to put me in some other kind of therapy. So instead of going out and buying new pillows for the couch, that I don’t need. Or a pair of shoes I will never wear, I resort to a type of therapy that is not only refreshing but also uplifting. If I am sad, mad or confused creative therapy sooth’s my mind, frees my spirit and everything seems a little clearer. I do enjoy a good creative therapy session alone, but I mostly enjoy it with others. Today my youngest and I had a therapy session that I will treasure forever. We pounded, smashed, rolled and cut our way through play dough. After we got all those frustrations out it was time to move on to something a little more messier. Paint! When I got the paint out and then our collection of brushes he squealed with delight. That right there can make any bad day melt away. We painted for about an hour when he was finally tired of it and ready for a bath. After we were all cleaned up I decided to document our artwork. What better way to do that than to pull out my absolute favorite creative tool, my camera. As you can see we are ready for fall, we created a beautiful pumpkin patch that I will treasure forever.

09.11.01. It’s a day those who lived it will never forget. I can still hear the phone ring. I remember rolling over to see what time it was and then looking at my sleeping newborn son. So tiny and new. He was a horrible sleeper so it was wonderful to have slept 3 hours straight. I sluggishly got out of bed and went downstairs to see who called. It was my husband. Odd for him to call so early in the day, he knew Baby Jax’s schedule and that was his long stretch of sleep, and when he slept you better believe it, I slept too. So I listened to his message. “Stacy, turn the TV on, a plane hit one of the Twin Towers, call me.” His voice was serious and it sent a bit of a chill up my spine. I walked quickly to the living room and flipped on the TV. I saw what was happening and was totally confused. Never in a million years could I have imagined what I was about to witness on live television. I heard Jax stirrring and I ran up to get him. I brought him down and placed him in the pack and play next to the couch and sat back down. I called my husband but no answer. Hung up and called again. I did this at least 3 times before leaving a message. I then called my parents. My dad answered and asked if I was watching and we both were in disbeleife, my mom got on the phone and at this time we all sat on the phone in silence as we all watched with horror the 2nd plane flying towards the other tower. Total disbeleife. It was as if it was a bad dream. It sank in quickly, we were being attacked. I got off the phone and just held my newborn son. I questioned outloud… “what have I brought you into?”

Life as we all knew it was forever changed. It was shortly after that when I received the packaged I had hoped not to receive. I had just gotten out of the military prior to giving birth to Jax, my 1st born son. When the knock came, I opened it to be handed a certified letter. My hand shook as I signed for it. I was recalled.

Months went by, then years. And here we are today. 8 years later. It still seems like yesterday. The emotions still feel raw. The images still fresh in the mind. It’s a day we all will not soon forget. It’s a day that the world stood still. It’s a day that we lost so many. It’s a day that my priorities changed.

To the men and women who stood up that day I thank you! To the men and women who left their normal lives and stood up to join others and fight for this great country, I thank you! To the men and women who continue today to keep my children safe, I thank you! To the families that lost so much that day, I pray for you.

God Bless America!!
