Soulard was the setting for Allison and Krieg’s session. No they aren’t engaged (yet he he) but they have been dating for three years. Hmm I think. From what she says, there was no formal asking. She told me that they hung out all the time and one day he said “I’m glad you are my girlfriend”, or something like that lol. So that is the beginning of their story. I think it’s cute and it rings familiar to me. My fella and I just happened. Friends that happened to kiss one night out on the town. Then the dating began and months later we got married and then here we are… happily chaotic together forever!! It was great hanging out with these two crazy kids, so young, so in love and they really have their heads on straight. It’s always a joy to meet young (like I am sooo old or something) folks who are working hard to reach their goals. Allison dreams of becoming a wedding planner and Krieg has high ambitions on becoming a welder and joining the Air Force. I like them… I like them a lot!! And I only hope for fantastic things for them!! Thanks Allison and Krieg for hanging out and being YOU!
Allison has an amazing way to her. She has that, light up the room personality! When she smiles, well we all smile. She’s contagious! I even loved hearing her messages on my voice mail! She’s simply fantastic I tell ya!
Good luck you two wild and crazy kids!! I look forward to seeing where you will go!!

I had the pleasure of being a 2nd shooter a few weeks back. It had been years since I was the side kick, and honestly I loved it. It gave me the chance to see someone else be in charge. I got to work beside my dear friend and fellow photographer Donna from Design Imaging. We had a bast and her couple was amazing! Everyone was so laid back and cool. And the day was magnificent! I’ve never shot a wedding at a winery and was thrilled when Donna informed me of the beautiful location. I met her out at the beautiful Villa Antonia Winery in Hillsboro, MO. If you are looking for a quaint little retreat to run away to and have a jaw dropping event, this is the place. The staff was superb and the food was yumtastic! So with out further ado I will leave you some images that I got to capture. Thank you Donna for allowing me this opportunity and I look forward to working together again soon!!

I love the little details of this wedding. She gave out fans to everyone. It’s so nice when they think of their guests. And when you see the unity sand you will be blown away. I have never seen anything like this and I was very impressed. I wish I would have found out where they got that at… hmm I might have to investigate. I do have a wedding in 4 years and a few months. ;o)

As the main photographer I am the one who usually is with the bride the entire day. When I have a 2nd shooter I send them off to hang with the guys. So this day I got to hang with the guys and I had a blast. They were so easy and entertaining!

Ok next up the kiss and the guest book. I loved the guest book idea so much! They had pictures of each of their guests, not sure they were able to do that but I am sure with a small intimate wedding it wouldn’t be that difficult. They had a table set up for the guests to come and take a scalloped edged peice of paper to write a nice note on. It was great. I love it when they make it personal!

I always imagined a winery wedding would be timeless and romantic. Well this wedding proved me right!

And finally, in honor of my daddy who passed 4 years ago this coming week the father daughter dance. I miss him greatly and another reason to add to the list of many, WHY I LOVE MY JOB, because at each and every wedding I am reminded of him, our love, our understanding and our bond. That even though he’s not present, he is forever with me in spirit and heart. And all of us daddy’s girls know… that we may be bigger but we still can remember dancing on daddy’s toes.

I recently celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary. We kept it very low key and just enjoyed some family time. What better way we thought than to celebrate us by including them. With out us there would be no them. And they are pretty darn amazing! Well it was very nice.
My confession: I want a wedding. lol Yeah I said it. I had a very non traditional wedding. I mean VERY. It was shared with close friends and a handful of family. We later has a reception that was more like a family BBQ just had a fancy wedding cake to signify it was an actual reception. ha ha. That’s how we wanted it then. We were kids, and weren’t big into the whole sha bang and neither one of really liked the idea of being the center of attention. WELL now that I am shooting weddings almost every weekend, and I am getting to know these couples and help them a long the way, I want that!! Is it silly? Maybe. Am I crazy? Depends on who you ask. But I think it’s time for us to have a wedding! So I am planning for the next 4 years and 9 months my wedding renewal. And I will share with you my readers things I find, things I like, things I find silly and so on. I’m not planning a 200 guest, wedding party of 14 gala. I am planning a get away, small, very intimate afair. But it will be about us, and celebrating the lives we have created. So if you have something you would like to share with me please do! It’s going to be a long 4 years and 9 months, but I figure by the time comes it will be perfect!!
Oh and shhhhh, I haven’t dropped the bomb on the hubby. I am hoping maybe he will propose all over again… maybe this time with a little more romance and not over a plate of hash browns and a moon over my hammy!
) I will keep you posted. I’m going to have to start dropping hints. Maybe I’ll get lucky and he will actually stumble across my website. lol
So for my first find I wanted to show you two links that I have fallen in love with.

The Brides Dressing Room
Many times my coverage starts in the dressing room. It is in here that I capture the anticipation, excitement and teary eyes before the bride walks down the isle. I get the details, those little things that seem so little but mean so much. From mom clasping granny’s bracelet around the brides wrist, to the placing of the veil by her best friend. These are moments that you will want to remember. So make these moments seem classic and timeless by using my suggestions for the dressing room. This room plays a huge part in your story.
My Suggestions:
Find a room with plenty of natural light. Natural light is flattering and it also gives more of a romantic feel.
Room to move. With 6 girls, moms, grandmas, and the photographers, there needs to be plenty of room.
Keep the trash minimal. Have dresses out of plastic and hanging, shoes out of the boxes and flowers placed in glass jars or vases. We know that a lot of times lunch is had while getting ready, but please try and keep it a bit tidy. It’s important to try and have a place for everything. You don’t want a precious picture of grandma tearing up as she first sees you next to a table full of subway wrappers.
Limit your guests access. It’s always tempting for guests to want to see the bride before she heads down the isle. Look for a location that isn’t right next to the entrance. This can be distracting and it also takes away from your moment of all eyes on the bride. Think WOW factor!
It’s your day, do it your way!

I went out today to get another hard drive and came home with a 3TB under $150 and a new monitor that is knocking my socks off! It’s huge, vivid, and delicious! I couldn’t wait to get it home, hook it up and play on it. And here I am still drooling over it’s beauty! I want to thank Chuck at Best Buy for helping me out. He went above and beyond tonight.
